Story of Mother’s Day 母親節故事
Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mother in a family. Most people around the world will show their appreciation towards their mothers. Mother’s Day falls on different days depending on the different countries. It is held on the second Sunday of May in many countries, such as United Sates, Australia, Italy, Switzerland and so on. As for Taiwan, we also celebrate on this day. In this year, it will occur on May 9. However, there are still many countries celebrate Mother’s Day on other dates. In United Kingdom, for example, Mother’s Day is always celebrated on three weeks before Easter Sunday. Interestingly, in some countries, Mother’s Day is even an annual public holiday. Take Thailand as an example, it is held exactly on August 12th, the birthday of the current queen, Sirikit. Though not all countries celebrate it on the same day, the sentiment is the same. We all sincerely express our heartfelt thanks to our mothers. There are various ways to honor moms. Boro and Bomei decide to start mom’s day by offering her favorite breakfast. And they will give their mother handmade origami carnations and cards. They also plan to spend a whole day with mom and tell her how lucky they are to be with her.
