我來自哪裡？要用from還是come from呢？

說到中文母語者常常弄錯的基本英文句子，波羅就會想到「你來自哪裡？」這一句話。 波羅聽過有許多朋友會說「Where do you come from?」，有些朋友則會說「Where are you from?」， 到底哪個句子才是正確的呢？ 一起來看看吧！(內附練習題)

首先，讓我們先來看看以下兩個句子↓(我來自日本🇯🇵)
(1) I come from Japan.
(2) I’m from Japan.
哪一句是正確的呢？各位朋友心裡有答案了嗎？

(1) (X) I come from Japan. → 錯誤
(2) (O) I’m from Japan. → 正確

I come from Japan. 雖然文法沒有錯誤，但是英文母語者是不會這樣說的。
這樣的錯誤，可能來自於「中文母語者的干擾」，
為什麼我會這麼說呢？因為在中文裡，以上的句子我們可能會說「我從日本來」。
這時候就很容易不小心把「來」這個字翻譯成「come」，然後把「從」翻譯成「from」。

確實，我們需要from，但卻不需要come。
我們來看看一些具體的句子對比一下吧！
1. 我來自台北。
(X) I come from Taipei.
(O) I’m from Taipei.
2. 我最好的朋友來自屏東。
(X) My best friend comes from Pingtung.
(O) My best friend is from Pingtung.
3. 艾咪是從花蓮附近的一個小鎮來的。
(X) Amy comes from a small town near Hualien.
(O) Amy is from a small town near Hualien.

常見的錯誤用法是：
(X) Where do you come from? → 前面說過come from是非常中式的語法
(O) Where are you from? → 這才是最標準且正確的用法哦！

I come from是用來表達「為了做某件事，而從某一個地方來」，from後面會加上你的出發地。
例如：你住在台中，但卻看到住在高雄老朋友突然出現，這時候就可以問他↓
Me: What are you doing here?
Her: I came from Kaohsiung this afternoon for a conference.
我：你在這裡做些什麼？
她：我今天中午從高雄來台中參加一個會議。

在這邊提醒大家，以上的句子我們會用過去式來表達，說明來這裡是「已經發生」的事情。(come的動詞三態是【come-came-come】)如果真的很想用現在式，那麼也是可以的～不過是有條件的哦！！！如果你想表達的是「經常性、反覆發生」的事情，那麼就可以用現在式的come來做表達。

例如：我每週都從桃園通勤到台北。
I come from Taoyuan to Taipei.
(↑但是這個用法還是有些不自然，不過尚可接受)
最好的表達方式，我們可以這樣說：
I commute from Taoyuan to Taipei. （commute [kəˈmjuːt] 通勤）
