Chinese New Year Story 《新年篇》
Story 故事：
Chinese New Year is also called Spring Festival. In Chinese,we called it Guo Nian (過年). The meaning is to celebrate the beginning of a new year, or you can say that it is to overcome Nian (年).
In ancient times, there was a terrible monster who was called Nian or Nianshou (年獸). With sharp horns, teeth, and long, long head, it always scares Chinese people. Around the Chinese New Year’s Eve, the monster would stay in nearby villages and eat people.
Therefore, people would move to remote mountains and hide. But a white hair old man refused to move to the mountain and tried to scare away the monster. The old man knew that the monster was afraid of loud noises and the color of red.
So he put up red papers on the doors, dressed all in red, lighted candles in his house, and burnt bamboo to make noises. The man successfully scared Nianshou away.
When people returned to their villages, they were surprised to find that their house had not been destroyed. After that, people did the same things like the man did at every New Year’s Eve and the monster never show up again.
中國新年也叫做春節。在中文裡，我們將它稱之為過年。
過年的意義是為了慶祝新的一年開始，或者你也能說是戰勝了“年獸”。
在遠古時代，有一隻可怕的怪獸叫做年或年獸。他有著銳利的觸角與牙齒，還有長長的頭，它總是造成中國人恐慌。在接近除夕夜左右的時間，這個怪物會待在附近的村莊並且吃起人們。
因此，大夥會遷移至偏遠的山上躲藏。但有一名白髮老人卻拒絕搬移，並試圖嚇跑怪獸。老人知道怪獸害怕吵雜的聲音以及紅色。
於是他把紅色的紙貼在門上、全身穿著紅色衣物、在屋子裡點燃蠟燭、燃燒竹子製造噪音，於是男人成功地嚇跑了年獸。
當人們回到他們的村莊，大家都驚訝地發現他們的房子完好無缺。在那之後，大家便在除夕夜學男人做相同的事情，果然年獸再也沒有出現了。
Family Story 《我的家庭篇》
Story 故事：
Ten years ago, a girl and a boy met each other. They were classmates in college.
On the first day of class, the girl fell down the stairs and the boy saved her. In order to thank the boy, the girl prepared lunch for him every day.
Gradually, the boy had a love relationship with the girl. After they graduated, the boy proposed to the girl. They became husband and wife.
They are the most handsome and beautiful bride and groom I have ever seen in the world. This is the love story of my parents. It is so romantic.
After they got married, my father surprised everyone by announcing that my mother was pregnant. Our family decided to hold a big party and celebrate because the baby was the first child in our whole family.
My grandparents said that whether the baby is a boy or a girl, he or she will always be the best child in our family. And the lucky kid is my older brother, Bori. The eldest son of my parents.
Soon after, good news came from my uncle and aunt. Since they did not have their own children, they decided to adopt a baby girl as their daughter.
Everyone in our family supported their decision and was happy to welcome her. And the girl is my cousin, Boyo, a smart and sweet girl.
Two years later, the twins were born. And I am the twin brother, Boro. The little girl is my twin sister, Bomei. We share everything together. I am so happy to have such a family.

The Lantern Festival 《元宵節篇》
Story 故事：
During the lantern festival, Boro and Bomei will go to Pingxi to release sky lanterns. Sometimes, Boro and Bomei will make their own lanterns, and carry their lanterns to celebrate the lantern festival.
Boro and Bomei always eat tangyuan during the lantern festival. Boro loves to eat peanut tangyuan and Bomei loves to eat fried tangyuan. Therefore, they will solve lantern riddles at the night market. If they solve the riddles correctly, they can have tangyuan for free.
People will also set off beehive firecrackers to celebrate the lantern festival. However, Boro and Bomei will not attend the Yanshui beehive fireworks festival this year because they have to teach you vocabulary about the lantern festival!

Tomb Sweeping Day《清明節篇》
Story 故事：
Qingming Festival is called Tomb Sweeping Day.
清明節被稱為Tomb Sweeping Day。
It’s usually falls on April 4 or 5 of the solar calendar.

It is an important day for showing respect and worshiping to ancestors.

There are various activities for Tomb Sweeping Day, such as tomb sweeping, tomb upkeep and repair, as well as spring outings.

Praying cash is their currency in the underworld.

Many temples in Taiwan will also hold Zhongyuan Pudu, offering feasts to wandering ghosts.
在台灣很多寺廟也會舉辦中元普渡，為孤魂野鬼擺設筵席。
Most of those ghosts didn’t have family when they were alive.
這些孤魂野鬼，大多在世時沒有家人無親無故。
Therefore, nobody will worship the good brothers and give them food and money.
所以，就沒有人會祭拜祂們，給祂們食物和錢。
So, that is why people will show respect and do Pudo to them on the festival.

In addition, there are several famous traditional activities of Zhongyuan Festival include releasing the water lanterns and paper boats, and grappling with the ghosts.

Easter is coming. Painting Easter eggs is a good way to celebrate Easter. You can do it with your family, friends, or classmates.

It’s must be fun and interesting. Lots of people may buy some decorating kits to make a colorful egg.

But actually, there are tons of ways to make them different.
但是實際上，有很多方法可以使它們與眾不同。
Now, I want to show you how to make special “Boro” eggs step by step.

First of all, boil the eggs. Put the eggs in a pan of hot water.
首先，煮雞蛋。將雞蛋放入一鍋熱水中。
Allow the egg to boil for about seven to eight minutes. And then remove the egg to let them cool.

Second, prepare a paint brush and a can of gray paint, and then dye the eggs.

The step is very easy. Coat the egg in two or three layers of paint. Then, wait until the eggs are completely dry.

Remember not to dilute the paint with too much water, otherwise it will be difficult to apply gray paint on the eggs.

You can also prepare a container and dye the eggs. Fill the container with half cup of water.

And then put one teaspoon of white vinegar as well as twenty to twenty-five drops of gray.

Afterwards, put the eggs in the liquid and let them soak about five minutes or even longer.

Next, place them in an egg carton to dry. Now the eggs are ready for decoration.

In order to celebrate Children’s Day, Boro decided to invite his siblings and friends to go on a picnic in the nearby park.

Bomei came up with many good ideas, such as exchanging gifts, and playing hide and seek. All of their friends agreed with her ideas.

When they got to the park, they saw some kids playing on the seesaw. Some kids were playing on the slide and swing.

Others were playing in the sandbox with buckets and shovels. There is a little girl with a difference.

Today we are going to learn how to make a beautiful origami carnation step by step.

What materials will we need?

We need to prepare a piece of colored paper as the petals.
我們需要準備一張色紙用來製作花瓣。
You can choose any color you like to use.

Also, we should get a green paper as well.

And don’t forget to prepare a tube of white glue and a pair of utility knife.

We are going to divide the paper into four equal squares.

Use a box cutter to cut along creases.

We all sincerely express our heartfelt thanks to our mothers. There are various ways to honor moms. Boro and Bomei decide to start mom’s day by offering her favorite breakfast. And they will give their mother handmade origami carnations and cards. They also plan to spend a whole day with mom and tell her how lucky they are to be with her. Dragon Boat Festival 《端午節》
Dragon Boat Festival Origins: Who is Qu Yuan?
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Double Fifth Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The origin of the important festival was from an intelligent official named “Qu Yuan”.
Qu Yuan was a respected man who was good at diplomacy. He was appointed left minister to King Huai because of his outstanding talents. Qu Yuan loved his kingdom very much, but he could not gain respect of the new emperor after King Huai passed away. The new king appointed his brother to be prime minister. It is a pity that the prime minister hated Qu Yuan and exiled him to Jiangnan. During that tough time, Qu Yuan wrote a lot of poems to express his emotions. However, he still could not stand the emotional despair and decided to end it all. Qu Yuan jumped into Miluo River and committed suicide. When people heard the bad news, they immediately tried to find his body. In addition, people threw rice into the river to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan and try to appease the river dragon. This is the legend of Dragon Boat Festival.
Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, Boro likes to watch the dragon boat races and stand the egg on its end. Bomei likes to make her own fragrant sachets. As for their cousin, Boyo, likes to hang moxa on the doors to keep the bad spirit away. They all love to eat rice dumplings to celebrate the festival.

Football is also a tradition of Thanksgiving celebrations in the United States. Many people will watch football games while preparing their feasts, even if they aren’t sports fans. Some people like to spend time outside, enjoying the fresh autumn air. However you choose to observe this holiday, the most important thing is to be thankful for what you have.

Christmas 《聖誕節》－聖誕老人的秘密
Once upon a time, there was a wealthy man named Nicholas. He is very kind and generous. He would often give away all his wealth and possessions to those in need. And this man is the so-called Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, or simply Santa. There are many stories about the generosity of Santa Nicholas. One of the most popular stories is that he saved three poor sisters from being sold into slavery by their father. To thank him, later generations set up the Saint Nicholas Day. It is celebrated on the 6th of December every year. After Santa Claus passed away, people continued the practice of giving gifts. Gradually, his popularity spread across all borders. That’s how we get our Santa Claus! Many people believe that Santa lived in the North Pole. In order to put gifts in the Christmas stockings on the Christmas trees, he would ride a sleigh pulled by reindeers on Christmas Eve. And Santa Claus will deliver gifts through the chimney. Boro and Bomei wrote letters to Santa Claus this year, asking for candy canes and gingerbread houses as gifts. Mom and Dad told them to go to bed early that day so that Santa Claus can come earlier. I hope that our wishes can come true. Merry Christmas!
